Ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in January 2017, Gujarat's new chief minister Vijay Rupani kept key portfolios including industries, mines and minerals, ports, climate change, home and science & technology, among others.

In the freshly allocated portfolios among the 24-member council of ministers on Monday, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel saw finance, petrochemicals, urban and urban housing development, roads and building, Narmada, Kalpasar and metropolitan projects being allocated to him.

Within the cabinet of ministers, Bhupendrasinh Chudasma bagged the portfolios of revenue and education, while first time cabinet minister Chiman Sapariya took agriculture and energy portfolios. Cabinet portfolios of tribal development, tourism and forests went to Ganpat Vasava while Babubhai Bokhiria was allocated water supply, animal husbandry, cattle breeding, fisheries, civil aviation and salt industries.

 

Other cabinet ministers Aatmaram Parmar, Dilip Thakor and Jayesh Radadiya will now hold women and child welfare, labour and employment, and food & civil supplies, respectively. While Parmar will also hold charge for Social justice and empowerment, Thakor will hold for disaster management and pilgrimage development.

Among the ministers of state with independent charge were Shanker Chaudhary for environment, Jayantibhai Kavadiya for rural development, Ishwarbhai Patel for co-operatives, Vallabhbhai Kakadiya for transport and Rajendra Trivedi for sports, youth and cultural activities.

Meanwhile, Jashabhai Barad will hold MoS portfolio for water supplies, civil aviation and salt industries, while Parshottambhai Solanki for fisheries.
