As many as 94,128 nomination papers have been filed for the first phase of three-phased panchayat polls in Haryana next month.

According to Haryana Election Commissioner Rajeev Sharma the process of nomination filing for the first phase has been completed.

"As many as 59,019 nominations were received for 25,532 posts of Panch, of which 23,328 nominations are of women, while 23,301 nominations were received for 2,517 posts of sarpanch of which 8,932 nominations are of women," he said in a release here.

He said that 7,250 nominations have been received for 1,186 posts of Panchayat Samiti member, of which 2,585 nominations are of women and 4,558 nominations have been received for 368 posts of Zila Parishad member, of which 1,869 nominations are of women.
 

The elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) will be held in three phases.

The first phase of polling will be held on October 4, followed by the second phase on October 11 and the final phase on October 18.

The election process will be completed by October 31.
