J-K govt condemns Kishtwar communal violence

Jammu and Kashmir government today condemned communal violence in Kishtwar town and appealed people to maintain the age-old ties of harmony and brotherhood in the state.

The Cabinet which met here today with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in chair condemned the recent outbreak of communal disturbance at Kishtwar and condoled the loss of life in the resultant violence, an official spokesman said.

He said the Cabinet conveyed its sympathies to those who were injured during the violence and to those who suffered damage to their properties.

The Cabinet also condemned despicable efforts of elements which tried to engineer a similar situation in other parts of the state and appealed people to maintain the age-old ties of communal harmony and brotherhood in the state, he said.
 

Three persons were killed and property worth crores of rupees was destroyed in the communal clashes that started on Eid last week in the town.
