Jabalpur to get metro rail too

Some senior officials of the government would soon make a tour to Germany to understand finer points of the project

To ensure rapid transit system in state cities, Madhya Pradesh government today announced to launch metro rail service in Jabalpur town too. The state government is already working on light metro rail project for Indore and Bhopal.

Making an announcement for Jabalpur city, state finance minister Jayant Malaiyya today said in state assembly that a feasibility survey for metro rail project has been sanctioned. He said while presenting full budge of the state in assembly today.

He further said progress has been made for a detailed project report for light metro rail project in Indore and Bhopal. Light metro rail project in Indore and Bhopal is likely to be operational within next four years. Feasibility reports for the projects of both the cities have already been prepared.
 

Some senior officials of the government would soon make a tour to Germany to understand finer points of the project. The project would be expensive but ease growing traffic in both the cities. A total of 28.5 km length has been planned at initial stage in Bhopal and 32.16 km in Indore city. A total of Rs 15,000 crore is expected to be invested in both the projects. The Bhopal project would cost Rs 6,000 crore approximately while Indore project would require an investment of Rs 7,500 crore. Besides light metro rail project state would also set up information management and control centre to have smooth traffic, he said in his budget speech and added a project report is under progress.
