Jagan elected leader of YSR Legislature Party

With 67 members, YSR Congress would be main opposition party in 175-member residual Andhra Pradesh

BS Reporter Hyderabad
The members of YSR Congress Legislature Party (YSRCLP) unanimously elected YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader on Wednesday at a meeting held at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district.

With 67 members, YSRCLP would be the main opposition party in the 175-member Assembly of the residual Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the meeting following his election, Reddy said the contest between the YSRCP and the TDP, which had bagged the majority of the seats, was so close that the difference in the total votes polled between the two parties was only 500,000.

He said though he was advised to make tall electoral promises like that of the TDP,  he refrained from doing so as he was committed to the concept of credibility and values in politics.

Senior party leader, P Ramachandra Reddy, said the YSRCLP would now play the role of a constructive opposition party.
