While the next 18-20 hours are going to be crucial for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the state remained tense, especially the capital city of Chennai. While a few schools and colleges have announced holidays today, those that haven't are reporting a small turnout as parents did not want to take the risk of sending their children to school.
Offices, factories and public transport are operational.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up near Apollo Hospitals, as AIADMK workers, Ministers, MLAs and VVIPs have made a beeline after Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening.
Party MLAs were asked to come to the hospital in the morning and a meeting is expected to be held in Chennai today.
Security has also been beefed up across the state. Bus services from Karnataka and Kerala to Tamil Nadu have been affected after incidents of stone pelting were reported.
