Jayalalithaa reviews power situation in Tamil Nadu

The officials said Tamil Nadu generated 10,186 MW today as against the demand of 11,309 MW

As Tamil Nadu reels under power shortage and imposed load shedding, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today reviewed the situation with top officials of the state Power Generation and Supply Corporation.

Officials of TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd), including its Chairman Gnanadesikan briefed the Chief Minister on power shortage, current generation and supply, official sources said.

The officials said Tamil Nadu generated 10,186 MW today as against the demand of 11,309 MW.

With the state facing shortfall of 1100 MW, load shedding ranging from two hours to six hours is being enforced from today, with Chennai city facing two hour power outage daily.
 

The state was free from load shedding between July and December 1.
