The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand, which is four short of simple majority of 41 in the 81-member Assembly, is trying to split the Congress.
At present, the Raghubar Das government is dependent on the All Jharkhand Students Union with five seats, for its survival. The BJP has 37 MLAs. Manoj Yadav (Barhi), Videsh Singh (Panki), Badal Patralekh (Jarmundi) and Nirmala Devi (Barkagoan) are being wooed aggressively. Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhdeo Bhagat has alleged the BJP was indulging in horsetrading. "All Congress MLAs are with the party and none of them will go anywhere," claimed Bhagat.
