Jharkhand govt establishes majority in Assembly

Thirty seven MLAs opposed the ruling party's trust vote which was tabled by the chief minister Hemanta Soren in the Assembly

The coalition government led by Jharkhad Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtrya Janata Dal (RJD) which was installed with the leadership of chief minister Hemant Soren on July 13, has established its majority in the 82-member House of the state Assembly today by 43 votes.

Thirty seven MLAs opposed the ruling party's trust vote which was tabled by the chief minister Hemanta Soren in the Assembly.

Two JMM MLAs Sita Soren and Nalin Soren who were wanted by police in criminal cases in connection with the 2012 Rajya Sabha cash stash case and in the infamous seed scam case respectively, also appeared before floor test in the Assembly The Supreme Court today granted permission to JMM MLA,Nalin Soren to attend the Assembly during floor test before surrendering in the lowercourt. for bail.
 

MLA Sita Soren, daughter-in-law of the JMM supremo Shibu Soren somehow sneaked in the Assembly without interference from the huge police forces guarding inside and outside the Assembly premises. As usual she cast her vote.

The Congress MLA Sawna Lakra who was undergoing life-term sentence in a murder case also attended today during floor test. Earlier in day, he was permitted by the Jharkhand high court to attend the Assembly session till the proceedings of the Assembly with police escort.

The court advised the Assembly Speaker to decide on casting of vote by the jailed MLA during floor test. The Speaker asked the MLA to take decision according to his conscious.

Before the Assembly session started, BJP, JVM, JD (U), leaders and workers staged demonstrations with placards and slogan outside the Assembly demanding dissolution of the House.
