Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said here today that the investigation in the minor girl's rape case was still going on and that a CBI probe was not required as the police force was competent enough to investigate it.
Commenting on the demands for a CBI probe in the case, Siddaramaiah said, "Everything can't be sent to the CBI. Our police people are competent enough to investigate the matter and book the culprits."
Bangalore police chief M N Reddi had yesterday also given credit to his police officers in investigating the case.
Reddi had said, "The investigation of the sexual offence case of a six-year-old child has come to a decisive stage. Two persons, who are gymnastics instructors of the Vibgyor high school, were responsible for this offence. They have been arrested."
On July 3, two gym instructors had allegedly raped a minor girl inside the premises of Bangalore's Vibgyor School when she had gone to the washroom.
Bangalore has witnessed a slew of protests after the shocking incident came to light. The earlier Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar had also faced the heat and was replaced by M N Reddi.
