Chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's son K T Rama Rao has become the sole ambassador for investments in Telangana state as he was allotted the Industry and Mining portfolios in addition to the Information Technology and Municipal Administration departments held by him already, in a minor portfolio reshuffle effected by the chief minister yesterday.

Rama Rao gets the industry portfolio from Jupally Krishna Rao, who was now made the minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and the Mining portfolio from Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, who is the chief minister's nephew.

In the portfolio reshuffle, KCR allocated himself the additional portfolios of Commercial taxes and Rural Water Supply while minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav was now given Animal Husbandry in place of Commercial Taxes. Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was given Cooperative portfolio in addition to his existing Ministry.

Rama Rao's responsibilities in the government further grew following the allocation of the new portfolios. In February, he was projected as the face of the party and the government during the Hyderabad municipal elections, which saw the ruling TRS party winning record number of divisions. Soon after this impressive victory, KCR had allotted Municipal Administration portfolio to his son. Allocation of Industry and Mining portfolios comes on top of this.

The ruling TRS party completes two years in government next month.
