In more trouble for the embattled Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse, a sting operation conducted by a news channel has purportedly shown a local police officer claiming that Khadse put pressure on the police to register a case against Hemant Gavande, the whistle-blower in the MIDC land case.

Gavande, a builder, had last month alleged that Khadse's wife and son-in-law purchased a three-acre piece of land at Bhosri near here at a very low price, and the land actually belonged to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

The sting video shows inspector Hiraman Shirsath of Shivajinagar police station telling the reporter that Khadse had asked the police to register a case against Gavande last year for allegedly forging documents to grab a land belonging to the Agriculture College here. A case was registered against Gavande in January 2015 in this matter.

Shirsath also says that he wrote down in the station diary what transpired at the meeting with Khadse.

Both Khadse and the police officer could not be contacted for reaction.
