Lal Thanhawla to be sworn in as Mizoram CM on Dec 14

After a landslide victory in Mizoram Assembly polls, Lal Thanhawla will be sworn in for a second consecutive term as the Chief Minister on Saturday.

Lal Thanhawla (71) and members of his council of ministers will be administered the oath of office by Governor Vakkom B Purushothaman at a ceremony which would begin at 11 am at the Raj Bhavan here, a communique said today.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) had elected Thanhawla as its leader yesterday paving way for his becoming chief minister of the state for the fifth time and a second consecutive term.

The protem speaker, who would conduct the oath of office to the 40 newly-elected legislators, would also be sworn in at the Raj Bhavan on the same day, it said.
 

Congress has won 34 of the 40 seats of Mizoram Assembly, elections to which were held on November 25.
