Lalthanhawla confident of winning Mizoram again

The polling, commenced at 7 a.m., will continue till 4 p.m

Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalthanhawla on Monday cast his vote and expressed confident of winning another term.

"It is very much in the day, that the people are voting us back to power. Fortunately, there is no anti-incumbency in the state", said Lalthanhawla who is contesting from two constituencies - Serchhip, his home turf, and neighbouring Hrangturzo.

In response to the Opposition's claim to form the government after the elections, he said, "We will wait for the results, and, see what happens,"

The polling, commenced at 7 a.m., will continue till 4 p.m.

More than 6.9 lakh voters including 3.5 lakh female voters will decide the fate of the next government.

 

Both the ruling Congress and the opposition Mizoram Democratic Alliance (MDA) comprising MNF, Mizoram People's Conference and Maraland Democratic Alliance have fielded candidates in all the 40 seats.
