Maharashtra Assembly: NCP to vote in favour of BJP nominee

Sanjay Jog Mumbai
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), with 41 legislators, at its legislature party meeting held late on Tuesday evening decided to vote in favour of the BJP nominee in the election to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker's post and also support the BJP during the confidence motion in the Assembly.

BJP nominee Haribhau Bagde's victory looks certain. Governor C Vidyasagar Rao had asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to prove a majority on the floor of House after he took over on October 31.

An NCP leader told Business Standard, "The NCP will vote in favour of the BJP candidate and also vote in its support during the confidence motion.'

Earlier, the Congress had sought the NCP's support for its nominee.
