Food and civil supplies Minister Anil Deshmukh today said the Maharashtra government will seek for amendment in the Food Security Act, under which 35 kg food grains per ration card be provided to the beneficiary.
Deshmukh told reporters here that the request for amendment will be made at the meeting of food ministers from all over the country in Delhi on Friday.
The Minister said earlier, beneficiaries got 35 kg on one ration card before the implementation of the Act.

If the demand is accepted, 22,000 metric tonne food grains will be require every month to meet the need, while the state government gets 3.74 lakh metric tonnes as of now, Deshmukh added.
