Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar hit out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his model of governance, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has deteriorated the condition of the state.
"Gujarat has been a developed state from the beginning. What has Narendra Modi done? Narendra Modi has, in fact, deteriorated the state. There are huge numbers of people dying of malnutrition in Modi's Gujarat. The only thing he has done is that he has sold the land in Gujarat at shamefully low prices to big corporate houses" Anwar said here today.
Commenting on Gujarat's physical infrastructure growth Anwar said, "He (Narendra Modi) is looting the state. After he is removed only will the country get to know what the real state of affairs are in Gujarat."
Earlier in the week, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen had controversially criticized Modi, who has been advocating what is popularly known as the 'Modi model of governance'. Sen had expressed his concerns regarding Modi as Prime Minister, saying that he had doubts over the Gujarat Chief Minister's secular credentials.
Additionally, Sen told a television channel during an interview that Modi could have done more for Gujarat 's education, health and for secularism, instead of focusing solely on physical infrastructure development in that state.
