Modi to kick off campaign to rekindle patriotism

The campaign will see the entire council of ministers travel across the country to "rekindle the spirit of patriotism"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s 15-day campaign called '70 saal azadi - yaad karo kurbani' on Tuesday, 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement. The campaign will see the entire council of ministers travel across the country to "rekindle the spirit of patriotism". The party will also use the occasion to highlight the Modi government's schemes for at the poor and weaker sections, with senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu claiming it has been working to usher in 'suraj' (good governance) after the country received 'swaraj' (self-rule) 70 years ago.

"This will be a massive exercise of 15 days across the country, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Quit India movement and 70 years of Independence. The programme will continue till August 23," Naidu, information and broadcasting minister, told reporters. He said 75 ministers would each visit at least two places associated with the freedom struggle. "The idea is to rekindle the spirit of patriotism among the people to convey to the new generation the sacrifices made by our leaders who fought for the freedom movement and recall the great valour shown by them," he said.
 

Kalraj Mishra hits out at Kejriwal

Union Minister Kalraj Mishra on Sunday, hit out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that it was a "misfortune" of Delhi that it was handed over to a person who "has nothing to do with the Constitution and law". Without naming the Aam Aadmi Party or Kejriwal, Mishra said, "It's a misfortune of Delhi, that we handed over it to a person who has nothing to do with the Constitution and law, who does not know what process should be adoped in a Union Territory."

Monsoon session to end this week

The monsoon session of Parliament will conclude on August 13. The winter session will begin sometime in November.

Dayashankar released from Mau jail

After walking free from jail, expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh on Sunday fired a fresh salvo at Mayawati claiming she "auctioned" tickets and dared her to fight against his wife on any unreserved seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections next year. Singh demanded that a CBI inquiry be ordered into the allegations against Mayawati or else he would file a PIL on the issue. The leader, who was arrested for allegedly making derogatory comments against the BSP chief last month, was released from Mau jail, a day after a local court granted him bailwith India in his speech will be worth watching.
