Condemning the ink assault on Sudheendra Kulkarni by the Shiv Sena, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday said aggressive fringe elements must not be allowed to shrink the space of freedom of expression.
Terming the assault on Kulkarni as unfortunate, Sayeed said, "The politics of hate has no place in our country."
"Those who think they can resort to political hooliganism and get away with it are living in a fool's paradise," he told ANI here.
Kulkarni was assaulted by Shiv Sena activists for refusing to back down from organising ex-Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch in Mumbai.
The six Shiv Sena workers, who were detained yesterday for smearing ink on Kulkarni, were released on bail today.
