BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and senior leader L K Advani on Monday said that the nation has already decided against the Congress for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, and told party workers to grab this opportunity to bring in change for better future of the nation.
The party leaders explained that the mood was clear across the country that they did not want Congress-led government at the centre. They were speaking at the opening of the new headquarters of Gujarat BJP in Gandhinagar. Modi blamed the Congress for trivialising the crucial issues that the nation was facing, and said that the ruling party at the Centre was making concerted effort to skirt the issues of corruption, price rise and good governance.
Giving example of mood against Congress Modi said, "When a leader of the third front in Orissa says that his family will vote for BJP and when a former minister of Congress in Kerala pledges his vote for BJP, it becomes very clear that the nation has decided (against Congress). Now, it becomes our responsibility that the nation is not disappointed at any cost. Dreams of a common man should not be shattered. There should not be any lapses from our side to fulfill the aspirations of the nation. The election is not being fought for results but for bright future of the India."
He further made a futuristic statement that Congress will not come to power till 2025.
Praising Modi's leadership Advani said that the 2014 Lok Sabha elections were unprecedented.
"Since 1952 I have seen various elections. But the campaign during the 2014 general elections is something that I have never seen," said the former deputy prime minister of India.
"Never before has been the situation that people can feel which party will form the next government. Even the Congress leaders say that they will not make the next government, but they are not going into numbers," Advani claimed. He felt that after a decade of disappointment, once again the people are feeling the optimism that was there during regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Advani also attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying that he did not consider him to be PM. "I do not consider Prime Minister as a complete PM as his control is in two hands. Or rather I should say one hand, as the second hand also does what the first hand says," the veteran leader said in a veiled attack on the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi.
