Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed need for a quantum jump in the health sector and suggested a comprehensive approach with focus on preventive health care.
Addressing a gathering of health care professionals from across the country, Modi raised pitch for awareness on personal hygiene and said that there was no bigger inspiration for that than Mahatma Gandhi. "Earlier there was progress in the health care sector but is was slow and steady. What we need now is a quantum jump which can be achieved through a comprehensive approach by forming a team and that is when we will get desired results," Modi said after inaugurating the conference. He said focus should be on preventive health care, and all departments need to coordinateand act pro-actively.
