NHRC seeks report from C'garh govt on steel plant deaths

Six people, including three senior officials, were killed and many injured when gas leaked at Bhilai Steel Plant yesterday

The National Human Rights Commission today issued a notice to Chhattisgarh government seeking a report within two weeks on the leakage of poisonous gas in Bhilai Steel Plant which led to the death of six persons.

According to an NHRC statement, the Commission has issued the notice to the government of Chhattisgarh, through its Chief Secretary, calling for the report after it took suo motu cognizance of media reports on the incident.

Six people, including three senior officials, were killed and many injured when gas leaked at Bhilai Steel Plant yesterday.

The Commission said the contents of press reports, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of right to life and health of the victims.
