Telangana Congress on Monday said demonetisation of high-value notes has brought misery to common people and announced it will organise demonstrations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre across all district headquarters on Tuesday over the issue.

"Demonetisation has brought misery to the poor, middle class and housewives. Congress is against black money but the manner in which Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes have been cancelled, it has only created chaos in the country," Telangana Congress President Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

The withdrawal of high-value notes was undertaken without application of mind and proper planning, he said.

"To protest the decision, demonstrations will be organised tomorrow (Tuesday) against Modi and the central government in all district headquarters," Reddy said.
