The deputy Speaker of the Legislative assembly today suspended Opposition MLA  V Sivankutty for the day for ramping up on the dias of the speaker.

N  Shakthan also warned four  Opposition MLAs for their misdoings in the House.  The Opposition LDF created a pandemonium in the House over the suspension leaving the deputy Speaker to adjourn the session.

As a follow-on of Monday’s incidents, the Opposition continued  its  protest by shouting slogans and exhibiting banners and placards demanding resignation of finance minister KM Mani.

Earlier, moving a submission, Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan  demanded an FIR be registered in the bar bribe case followed by a proper inquiry into it. He also demanded Mani’s resignation from the Cabinet in order to allow a fair and  impartial enquiry. He  accused home minister Ramesh Chennithala of protecting the finance minister, and urged the  Speaker to give a ruling on the issue.

Replying to the allegation,  Ramesh clarified the vigilance wing of the state police was inquiring the allegation and promised an impartial probe. He told the vigilance wing was not given any instruction by him.

Raising slogans against the home minister and the finance minister, a section of the Opposition MLAs rushed towards the deputy Speaker’s chamber while some jumped onto the dias. Others shouted slogans at the well of the Assembly, prompting the deputy Speaker to leave the house.

Meanwhile,  the LDF moved the High Court, seeking to draw up an FIR and register crime against the minister.
