Lok Sabha passes quota Bill for economically weak in general category

Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi were present in the House when the Bill was passed. The government will table the Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday

There is a need to make "historic" efforts, Union Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday while moving a constitutional amendment Bill to provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs and educational institutions to economically backward section in the general category.

Opposition objects to Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in LS

3) With Speaker Sumitra Mahajan not heeding to the demand, the Congress staged a walkout.
 
4) TMC's Saugata Roy dubbed the Bill as "divisive" and "insidious" and said it goes against the basic tenets of the Constitution.

Bill to provide ST status to 6 communities in Assam to be introduced in Parliament soon: Rajnath Singh
 
A Bill to declare six communities in Assam as scheduled tribes will be introduced in Parliament soon, Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. (Read more here)
 
The minister, while speaking on the Citizenship Amendment Bill, said the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal and a Bill to this effect will be brought soon. 
 
The communities that are proposed to be extended ST status include Koch Rajbongshi, Tai Ahom, Chutiya, Matak, Moran and the state's 36 tea tribes, he said.

The Rajya Sabha resumed its business again at 3 PM with Harivash, in the chair, appealing to Opposition members to allow the House to function. When the Opposition refused to relent and continued shouting slogans in the Well, the chair adjourned the House till 3:30 PM and later for the day.

Thereafter, Tiruchi Siva, who chaired the Rajya Sabha on its resumption, adjourned the House till 2:45 PM and again till 3 PM.
