Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Ram Vilas Paswan came out strongly against rivals Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav for joining hands in the Rajya Sabha by-polls.

Paswan said, "They called us opportunists, now they have joined hands for mere 2 seats. The ones who were abusing each other have now come together."

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, however, had expressed his happiness yesterday over defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar's Rajya Sabha election.

He had said, "RJD was not concerned about the win but its main aim was to defeat the BJP and we succeeded in it," added Yadav.

RJD backed Janata Dal United (JDU) party candidates won during the Rajya Sabha election although Yadav said that he earlier had issues with former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar because they were responsible for letting BJP make a stronghold in Bihar.
