Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Friday was in queue outside the State Bank of India at Parliament Street in the national capital to exchange Rs 4,000 with new notes.
"I have come to exchange Rs 4,000. I want to stand in the line. I'm standing in support of the people. If citizens can face problem, so can I," Gandhi said while hitting out at the Narendra Modi government.
"None of the crorepatis are standing in the line. It is only the common man who is facing problems. The government should not be for those 15-20 crorepatis but for the common man," Gandhi said.

Slamming the government over the move, Gandhi had earlier tweeted, "Once again Narendra Modi shows how little he cares about ordinary ppl of this country-farmers, small shopkeepers, housewives-all thrown into utter chaos. While the real culprits sit tight on their black money stashed away abroad or in bullion/ real estate. Well done Modi. One question for the Prime Minister: How is replacing Rs 1000 notes with Rs 2000 notes going to make black money hoarding a lot harder?"
The Congress is in a tough situation as it cannot outrightly reject the government's move to tackle the issue of black money menace, corruption, it is now questioning the way it is being done.
