Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi made an unscheduled brief stop at an ATM in suburban Vakola in Mumbai and interacted with the people standing in a queue.

He was returning from Bhiwandi in neighbouring Thane district where a court granted him bail in a defamation case.

Congress tweeted, "Listening to people's woes as they try and access their hard earned money, SBI ATM, Vakola, Mumbai."


 
Even after a week there has been no respite for people and long queues are seen outside banks, ATMs around the country follwoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes with effect from Novermber 8 midnight, making these notes invalid in a major assault on black money, fake currency and corruption.
 

A few days ago, Gandhi was in queue outside the State Bank of India at Parliament Street in the national capital to exchange Rs 4,000 with new notes.
