Prakash Javadekar is an official spokesperson for the BJP and Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra since 2008.

He has been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since his student days. He’d worked in the Bank of Maharashtra from 1971 to 1981. Considered an Arun Jaitley acolyte, he has also been prolific in his writings.

As a journalist, he has been joint editor of a Marathi daily, Kesari, and written for newspapers Tarun Bharat and Kaal. He was a member of a Maharastra Assembly for two terms from 1990 to 2002. He was the BJP’s pointsman for Andhra for striking an alliance with Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu. Father Keshav Krishna Javadekar was a senior of the Hindu Mahasabha and its Pune head, being a follower of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
