Rejecting Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's drawing of parallels between Pakistan and the Narendra Modi-led NDA regime in India, and him suggesting that a policy of divide and rule along the religious lines was being promoted, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said the Congress party have always been Islamabad's sympathisers.

"It is quite appalling to observe that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress on various fronts have tried to act as Pakistan sympathisers. Even yesterday, we see the same when the Indian Prime Minister and the Indian Home Minister attack Pakistan and expose them. I don't understand why Rahul Gandhi is so pained. Only a few days ago, when the surgical strike was on terrorism in Pakistan, he was pained, and yet again, we see he is pained," BJP leader Sambit Patra said.

Patra's comment was in response to Rahul Gandhi's tweet, "Yes, Rajnath Singhji, Pakistan is trying to divide India along religious lines; has it struck you that you and your boss (PM) have been doing the same?"

The Congress Vice-President was responding to Rajnath Singh saying that Pakistan has been conspiring to divide India along religious lines.
