The Congress is taking no chances and going all out to propogate the Food Security ordinance. After Congress President Sonia Gandhi's interaction with Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is now slated to hold deliberations with PCC chiefs of all states on the Food Security Bill on July 27. The Food bill is being pitched as a "game changer" for the beleaguered Congress party.

Gandhi will address the PCC chiefs of states including Congress ruled states as well as those where the Opposition parties are in power. CLP leaders of the opposition-ruled states are also expected to participate in the meeting. Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and Food Minister K B Thomas are expected to be present during the deliberations.

The Congress President had urged all Congress ruled states for “speedy implementation” of this scheme and Delhi and Haryana are due to launch it on August 20, late PM Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday.
