Gandhi's visit to Gujarat is the first after Modi was anointed Prime Ministerial candidate by BJP

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will be on Narendra Modi's home turf from Thursday, and will hold back to back interactions with various cadres of party workers in order the give boost to party's 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign.

The Congress Vice President's visit to Gujarat is the first after Modi was anointed Prime Ministerial candidate by BJP.

On a two-day visit to Gujarat from October 3, Gandhi will first visit Sabarmati Ashram on arrival to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. This will be followed by brainstorming session with district level party office bearers to decided on poll strategy. He will, later on October 3, address a meeting of National Council of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students' wing of Congress.

Gandhi will hold meeting with the elected MPs and MLAs from the state besides elected representatives above Panchayat level.

On his second day (Oct 4) in Gujarat, Gandhi will hold meeting with party members from Saurashtra, North Gujarat and Kutch region in Rajkot city. Later in the evening he is likely to address the extended executive committee meeting of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
