A product of the National Defence Academy, Colonel (Ret'd) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is an MP of the 16th Lok Sabha from Jaipur Rural, Rajasthan.

Rathore, who is a prominent Indian shooter, rose to fame by winning the silver medal in the Men's Double Trap Shooting event at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He also won a gold medal at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, setting a new and hitherto unbroken record at the Games, of 192 target out of 200. He defended his championship in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth.
 

He began his political stint in September 2013, when he joined the BJP after taking voluntary retirement from the Indian Army.
It is strongly believed that his Army background and clean image led him to gain the trust of the people in his constituency.
