Commenting on Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur's comment on crime against women, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas on Saturday said rape had nothing to do with clothes.

This comment came as a reaction to BJP leader Gaur's recent comment that there were less cases of crime against women in south, as they wear fully clothed

"Rape has nothing to do with clothes, and women should have the right to dress according to their own will. We cannot ask them not to go out or not to dress in a certain way," said Vishwas.

"Recently, a six-year-old girl was raped. I would like to ask Babulal Gaur what would he say to the rape of a six-year-old. Was her dressing the reason for the rape?" he said.

He further said that both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sang (RSS) have rape accused sitting in their parties and that it was an issue to be worried about.

"According to the Justice Verma Report, no rapist or rape accused should be allowed to be a part of any party, but both parties have a rape accused sitting with them. This is an issue to be worried about," said Vishwas.

Babulal had reportedly said that police officials in Chennai had told him that women are religious and wear full attire; hence crime against them is less.

He had earlier said that the 'foreign culture' of women wearing jeans and T-shirts, drinking liquor and dancing with other men was not good for India.
