Considering the Opposition demand, Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday agreed to hold review meetings of development works in the state from December 15.

The move came after former state Bharatiya Janata Party chief Bishan Singh Chufal, a member of legislative Assembly from Didihat, sat on a dharna at the state Assembly along with a couple of other party legislators in protest against the government's approach towards development in the constituencies represented by opposition parties.

The Opposition was miffed at the chief minister's decision to hold review meetings of development works in Congress MLA constituencies.

As the dharna began in the morning, leader of the Opposition, Ajay Bhatt, asked the chief minister to intervene in the matter. "After the request, Rawat agreed to hold talks with us in his office inside the Assembly." Bhatt said.

"I told the chief minister there should be no discrimination, as the people who are residing in our constituencies are also citizens of Uttarakhand." Bhatt said.

"We are thankful to the chief minister for accepting our plea," he said. After the talks, the BJP MLAs called off the dharna.
