Special summary revision of electoral rolls-2015 in Kerala would this time target covering the gap in gender ratio and enrolment in tribal areas, Kerala chief electoral officer said today.

"Since Kerala already has a fairly good electoral roll, this year we are doing targeted intervention to cover the gaps in respect of gender ratio and enrolment in tribal areas," chief electoral officer Nalini Netto told reporters.

As per estimates about 40,000 tribals population were out of voters list now and focus would be to ensure their enlistment, she said.

Though female voters are more in Kerala, efforts would be made to reduce the gender ratio gap in SSR-2015, which would be the penultimate revision prior to final voters list for the Assembly polls due in the state in 2016, she said. Netto said normally about three to four lakh youths get enrolled in SSR every year.

"We expect the same this time also," she said, adding all those who attained the age of 18 this year are eligible to be enrolled in the voters list. The qualifying date for SSR is January 1,2015 and date of draft publication is November 1, 2014," she said.
