Coming out in support of communal violence bill, RJD today said the government should bring an ordinance on it so that there is a curb on riots.

"BJP is opposing the communal violence bill though it is in the interest of the nation. The Government should bring an ordinance to make it a law so that there is curb on communal violence and incident like Gujarat riot can be prevented," RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav said outside Parliament.

The new bill makes bureaucrats and public servants accountable for any acts of commission and omission while handling communal violence.

When asked whether the law will affect the federal structure of the country, RJD MP said, "The government has clarified that it is not an attack on the federal structure of the country. It has ensured that no action will be taken without the permission of the state concerned."

Yadav said the Government should expedite the process for enactment of the law relating to communal violence.
