Rajya Sabha was today adjourned till noon after Samajwadi Party created uproar over rising prices of essential commodities.

Soon after the House paid homage to martyrs of December 13 terrorist attack on Parliament 12 years ago, SP members moved towards the Well shouting slogans against the sharp rise in prices of essential commodities.

TDP members continued to protest against the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, while TMC members too were on their feet displaying posters seeking arrest of retired Supreme Court judge A K Ganguly for allegedly harassing a law intern.

JD-U members also rose in protest but nothing could be heard in the din.

Chairman Hamid Ansari asked members not to display posters and resume their seats even as Samajwadi Party members shouted "Mahangai par rok lagao (check price rise)".

Ignoring Ansari's pleas asking them to go back to their places, they shouted "Jab sey Congress aiyee hai, kamar todh mahangayee hai (it's backbreaking inflation since Congress came to power).

With the din continuing, he adjourned the House till noon.

Earlier when the House met, Ansari mentioned that today was the 12th anniversary of the dastardly attack on Parliament House by terrorists.

He recalled the supreme sacrifice by security personnel to prevent entry of terrorists in the Parliament building and said their "sacrifice was of highest order."

The House observed a minutes silence in memory of those who laid down their lives in protecting Parliament.
