The Shiromani Akali Dal faction led by Simranjit Singh Mann today said it would oppose the proposed visit of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to the state to address a rally in Jagraon near Ludhiana.

Activists of SAD-Amritsar will demonstrate and hold rallies at district level opposing the Modi meet on February 23, party secretary Jaskaran Singh said here.

Party's executive members led by Mann will also submit a memorandum to Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil on February 21 on the matter, he said.

Singh said his party was opposed to Modi due to his alleged anti-minority policies, role in Gujarat's Godhra killings, and over the migration of Punjabi farmers from the Kutch areas.

The party activists also plan to hold black flag demonstrations on the day of the rally.
