Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal on Sunday disqualified all the nine Congress rebels from Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha after they allegedly disobeyed the party's directives. With the disqualification, the strength of the 70-member House has been reduced to 61. The state Assembly has been kept under suspended animation under President's rule. The rebels include former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna and former agriculture minister Harak Singh Rawat, who led the rebellion against Harish Rawat.
"After assessing various letters and objections of Congress party and replies of the notices, all the 9 party members stand disqualified from the House," Kunjwal said within an hour after the President's rule was imposed. Earlier, the Speaker had sent notices of expulsion to all the 9 rebels.
