The proposed third front as an alternative to the UPA and the NDA is not of much credence in the 2014 general elections, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said here Wednesday.
"I don't give much credence to the third front... the country will have a secular government in 2014," Nath told reporters here.
Talks are on among some non-Congress and non-BJP parties to form a federal front for next year's Lok Sabha polls.
JD-U leaders Wednesday seemed to have decided to end the 17-year-old alliance with the BJP over the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the chief of the party's election campaign for the 2014 polls. A formal announcement to this effect is expected soon.
