With West Bengal Government drawing flak from Opposition over Madhyamgram gangrape incident, the ruling Trinamool Congress today lashed out at CPI(M), Congress and BJP accusing them of making concerted efforts to belittle the state's image before the outside world.
TMC general secretary Mukul Roy alleged that there was a "diabolic attempt" by the CPI(M) to propagate a disinformation campaign against the state and to create unrest.
Referring to the recent death of a gangrape victim of Madhyamgram, Roy said that the police had arrested the culprits and "we are with the family of the victim".

For preventing such heinous crimes, he said that there was a need to create social awareness among the people.
"We have seen the role played by the CPI(M) in the Tapasi Malik case of Singur and Sujata Bhadra case of Khejuri," Roy said.
"The Left Front had made sincere efforts to bury the issues, but TMC will never do that", he said. Asked about the visit of Bihar police official to the residence of Madhyamgram gangrape victim, Roy said "If someone wants to do politics, then it is different issue. But this is not good for the federal structure.
"Each person, whether he or she is a Bihari, south Indian and anything else, is living peacefully in West Bengal", Roy said.
