Topple J&K govt bid charges laughable: Gen VK Singh

Says J&K CM knows about the type of stability work that has been done

BS Reporter New Delhi
Former Army Chief General VK Singh on Saturday refuted all allegations of misusing the secret service funds to topple the Omar Abdullah government.

The former Army Chief came under scrutiny after an Indian Express report highlighted an Army probe finding that Singh tried to topple the Jammu and Kashmir government.

"The report has not said anything new. It is laughable, a hogwash and motivated. Don't know on whose behest is being done," General Singh said.

He went on to add that the army has brought stability to Jammu and Kashmir and the Chief Minister of the State knows that,”

Since retirement Gen Singh has been campaigning against graft alongside social activist Anna Hazare. Last week, he shared the dais with BJP PM-hopeful Narendra Modi at an ex-servicemen’s rally in Rewari, Haryana, and has in the past attended another public meeting with Om Prakash Chautala. He is a staunch critic of the UPA government.

Singh’s animosity with General Bikram Singh, his successor and the current Army Chief, is no secret.
