The UAE has offered assistance to Pakistan in overcoming its energy shortage with special focus on alternate sources.
The two countries have agreed to form a joint committee in this regard which would also ensure the transfer of technology in the field.
The decisions were taken at the 11th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held here on November 6 and 7.

The Pakistani side was led by Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, while the UAE side was led by its Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During his stay here, the UAE Foreign Minister also called on the Prime Minister and the President.
The deliberations of the JMC were held in a very cordial atmosphere. There was commonality of views on whole range of bilateral political and economic matters of mutual interest, an official statement said.
Both countries agreed that the existing political goodwill between them must be translated into tangible economic gains.
The two sides also decided to hold the first meeting of Joint Business Council (JBC) in the first quarter of 2014 either in Pakistan or the UAE and agreed to appoint focal points to discuss establishment of joint committee for consular affairs.
Pakistan welcomed the draft agreement proposed by the UAE side for cooperation in the field of manpower and expressed hope that the issue of visas for Pakistan nationals would be resolved since there are 1,200,000 Pakistanis residing in UAE.
An MoU was signed between Emirate Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) and Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
