The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said it will not support the no-confidence motion being brought by MPs from Andhra Pradesh opposed to formation of a separate Telangana state.

"We cannot support the no-confidence motion as we are in support of formation of Telangana," said Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.

Her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley added: "We have no confidence in this government, yet, we will not support this motion because it is opposing Telangana."

Some MPs of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Congress from the state's Seemandhra region (the coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions), submitted their notice for a no-confidence motion to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. The MPs are opposing bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to form a new state of Telangana.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday said the no-confidence motion is not needed and it will not serve any purpose.
