The 14th Commonwealth International Sports Science Congress 2010(CISSC 2010) a lead up conference is being organized jointly by the Organizing Committee CWG 2010 Delhi, National Association of Physical Education and Sports Science (NAPESS), Indian Association of Sports Medicine (IASM), Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) and Delhi University will be held at Manav Rachna International University’s campus, situated in the Aravali Hills Delhi, NCR.
This congress is held every four years, prior to the commencement of the Commonwealth Games by the respective organizing committee. In 2006, this convention was held in the city of Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. O.P.Bhalla, Chancellor MRIU and chief patron - CISSC 2010 said, “Manav Rachna International University has worked very closely with the CWG Organizing Committee, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Sports Authority of India (SAI) for the congress. We are overwhelmed that we would be hosting CISSC 2010 at our campus and we believe that it is the right forum for academicians, researchers and experts to come together to share information and experiences and to span various domains of sports sciences.”
The conference with the theme “Play Triumph scientifically” will be a multidisciplinary congress that will offer a splendid opportunity to the world’s leading sports academicians and practitioners to network with professionals who observe sport through a multiplicity of perspectives and disciplines and to showcase their work to worldwide audience. During the conference participation of people from different disciplines are expected to come on common platform and sharing their views with eminent speakers from all over the world.
“The 14th Commonwealth International Sports Science Congress 2010 will assemble key note speakers to focus on crucial topics through plenary sessions, paper presentations, colloquia, seminars, workshops and symposia and poster presentations” says Dr. G.L Khanna, Chairman CISSC 2010. The topics of Discussion at the Conference would range from Sports Medicine, Sports Physiotherapy, Ergonomics and Prosthetics, Sports Pediatrics & Gerontology , Biomechanics of Physical Activity and Sports, Sports Engineering, Sports Training and Technological Innovations ,Recent approaches in Nutrition, Health and Yoga, and marketing, Sport Tourism & Adventure Sport in India, Contemporary issues of Indian Sport Management, Women in Sports, Competitive Sports Psychology and Sports Sociology, Coaching Education, Scientific portico of Adapted Physical Education, Scientific derivations of Indigenous Sports and Physical Education, Cross Cultural Historical Issues of Sports & Physical Education and Modern Vs Post Modern Sports’’ , he further adds.
The university is also organizing Pre-Commonwealth Courses and workshops, from 24th to 27th September. These workshops would cover areas of different fields concerning sports performance including physiotherapy, Kinanthropometry, fitness, exercise prescription, & psychology, etc. The ISAK workshop for LEVEL-1 & 2 is being organized as a part of the
conference for the first time. The concerned resource persons are Prof. J. Hans de Ridder (president, ISAK) & Prof. Michael (Mike) Marfell-Jones (secretary-general, ISAK) carried further by another intensive training workshop on work place health promotion will be conducted by Wolf Kirsten - International Health Consultant, Berlin, Germany and Dr. Robert Karch from American University, Washington. Besides, other important events would also include manual therapy by Dr Umashankar Mohanty, Wheelchair skill by Mr. Arun Sondhi, ACL Rehabilitation by Dr. Parag Sancheti. Every workshop will have 30 seats and will be allotted according to first come first serve basis.
