AIMA Commemorates its 14th CONVOCATION DAY

Industry stalwarts received honorary fellowships

All India Management Association (AIMA) celebrated its 14th convocation ceremony in the city today. Mr. T K A Nair, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister was the honorable Chief Guest at the Convocation ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. T K A Nair, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister expressing his concern on the environmental and climatic change stressed that sheer ignorance has led to the current environmental imbalance and said,” Effective management has become critical to running successful governments, corporates and even social welfare programmes. It has become more important today as our society and its problems are becoming more complex. Therefore, the need for management education has increased manifold in last few years.

 

“Its important to give back to society what society has given us. We cannot ignore the concerns of the society. Managers should harmonize environmental concerns for developmental process & its business delivery in their future career in the industry”, he further added.

Welcoming the gathering, Mr. Srinivasan K Swamy, President AIMA said, “AIMA has been pioneer in distance learning programme since the last 33 years and has helped many to pursue higher management education successfully and has made many professionals ”

Addressing the participants, Ms Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA said, “our aim has always been to position AIMA as a knowledge organization that ranks amongst the most premier of all institutions. In order to achieve our desired brand recognition level, we had constituted a high profile task force chaired by Mr. Sudhir Jalan Past President AIMA and co-chaired by Mr Sanjiv Goenka Senior Vice President AIMA that will create a wholistic knowledge based vision for AIMA.”

Mr. Sanjeev Bikhchandani,Chairman Board of Studies, AIMA said,” The important developments for the year have been the extension of approval by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for AIMA-CME’s PGDM & PGDITM programmes by Distance Education.  Memorandum of Understanding with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for Ph.D programme till year 2012, opening 13 new study centers in smaller cities to broadbase the management education in the country. Enrollments in Post Graduate Certificate courses have registered significant growth and the number of companies evincing interest to recruit AIMA students has grown during the year.

One thousand four hundred and seventy four (1474) students received PGDM, PGDITM,  PGCM & professional diplomas in various fields of management. 12 PhDs from Aligarh Muslim University were honored. Four AIMA fellowships were conferred on Industry stalwarts for their active contribution to the industry and society. The recipients for this year fellowships were Dr. George Sleeba, CMD, FACT Ltd. – Kochi, Mr. Madhavan Nair Ayyappan, CMD HLL Lifecare Ltd, Trivandrum, Dr. Prakash V Bhide, President (Corp HR), J.K. Organisation, New Delhi and Dr. Fr. Beni Alphonse Ekka, Director, Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi.

Envisioning AIMA as an emerging hub of excellence in the world of management professionals at the global level, its custodians foresee AIMA as a major source of cutting edge research in management in the coming years and a fountainhead of ideas, concepts and models for future managers and organizations.
