Amity Institute of Information Technology (AIIT) organized an IT Summit – 2010 on “Academic – Industry Relations on Growth of Information Technology on the theme - Designing Project / Summer Trainings as per the requirement of the Industry, along with the academic support under the banner, Amity Resource Centre for Information Technology (ARCIT) at the Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida. The objective of the summit was to boost the relation between Academia and Industry.
Dwelling on the subject of ‘Information Communication Technology’ (ICT) Mr. Harsh Marwah, Director, Business Development, British Telecom said “ICT has brought a change to each of us, be it in the way we work, live, learn or play. Unlike decades ago, Information access now is only a few key strokes away. Accessibility of the right information at a right time has metamorphosed to reality from a dream.” Mr. Marwah exchanged views with students regarding the emergence of the virtual world of video conferences, emails, chats etc and its fast usage amongst students. Encouraging the summit Mr. Marwah pledged to make all possible efforts to bring domain experts and intellectual property from British Telecom, to Amity for the purpose of academic interface with the industry.
Mulling over the “Dynamic Business Environment of the future” and “Rise of Technology and Automation” Mr. Vinod Sood, Managing Director, Hughes Systique India (P) Limited, said “Successful professionals of the future are expected to contribute business values to the enterprises, prove that they can understand core business reality, demonstrate versatility, initiatives and possess an ability to take risks, collaborate and influence. Mr. Sood informed that the challenge today is how to blend the depth of skills and knowledge to a larger scope and add value to the organization accepting the new realities of globalization and urged students to understand that to make a successful professional it calls for sound relevant education, behavioural competencies, profitable decision making skills and above all passion, dedication and patience to achieve the target.
Addressing the gathering Maj. Gen. K Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, laid emphasis on the benefits of these summits which provide excellent learning exposure and channelizes the focus of the future IT professionals in the appropriate direction. Elaborating on the evolution of the IT sector, he said “Today India no longer needs runners rather it is in great need of doers and achievers. Since IT industry makes tremendous technical advances on a daily basis therefore it becomes vital on the part of the students to keep themselves upgraded to the growing advancements of IT to cope with the competitive job market that they would enter.”
Encouraging the summit Prof. H.S. P Singh, Head, AIIT stated that “the idea behind organizing such summits, is to collaborate Academic Know how with technical expertise within the duration of the Academic programmes taken up by the students and thereby focus on the interrelation of corporate with the global brand of Amity – ARCIT for the purpose of growing ARCIT’s technical expertise.”
