Apeejay organizes workshop on Social Broadcasting & new forms of Creativity

Commemorating Mahatma Gandhi's only visit to All India Radio as the National Public Service Broadcasting Day, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication at Dwarka on January 20, 2011 organized a workshop on Social Broadcasting and new forms of Creativity in the able presence of Mr. Brij Bakshi, Senior Director of Programmes in Prasar Bharti, New Delhi.

The workshop beginning with the keynote address of eminent Writer, Columnist & Nutritionist Dr Shikha Sharma, was an endeavor to enable the students to understand the evolution of social media and adapt the emerging and altering trends in the Industry. 

Mr. Brij Bakshi, who has been a well known Broadcast Programmer and Producer/Director of Documentaries, Social Advertisements gave a detailed presentation on the topic “Social Broadcasting and New Forms of Creativity”. Highlighting the importance of lateral thinking, Brij said, “It is very important to observe everything from a different point of view to bring the right change in the society around you.” He also said that the future belongs to those who can think exceptionally and act accordingly.

 

While explaining the role of Social Media in Broadcasting Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director of AIMC said, “Social media is rapidly changing the way we discover, consume and share information. Transforming online monologues into engaging dialogues, social media platforms enable people to connect and communicate in new and innovative ways. Media has really changed over the last two decades and social media has taken a pervasive place, making social broadcasting indispensable.”

Brij suggested media students to commercially evaluate their ideas to ensure their survival in the league. His workshop was a thought provoking session for students as they got a valuable opportunity to be an audience to critically analyse some of rare clippings from the Doordarshan archives.

The workshop also witnessed the presence of Prof Ashok Saklani, Director Apeejay School of Management and Ms Kirti, Anchor Doordarshan along with the students of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication.
