Eastern India’s premier residential international school, Oaktree International School opens its admissions for Grades 6-11 today. The 1st International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school in Kolkata opens it’s application process to all students. Admissions are open for Grades 6-11, for the session starting in September 2011.
The 30-acre purpose built residential campus of the school offers outstanding facilities for the students. Moreover the school’s founding faculty had been recruited and nearly half of the teaching faculty are from overseas and and have considerable previous experience of teaching the International Baccalaureate® (and/or Cambridge) programmes.
All faculty members are graduates with professional teaching qualifications and previous experience of international education. Specialists providing the very best careers and university guidance have been appointed. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Paul Reagan, Founding Head of School remarks, “We are delighted to bring the most globally recognized standards of education to Kolkata and the east. Students very soon would be able to observe the remarkable difference our curricular and co-curricular programme would make to their lives.” The School plans to invite International guest lecturers from around the world and would also encourage student exchange programs. The teaching staff will be encouraged to be mentors to the students, to nurture and nourish their intellectual, emotional and physical potential. The teachers will also design their teaching modules in order to make learning more interactive. The campus also houses a dedicated performing arts centre, amphitheatre, indoor and outdoor sports ground, as well as a plethora of other facilities for co-curricular activities.
About Oaktree International School
Oaktree International School, a first-of-its kind school in Eastern India located just 15 kilometers south of the heart of Kolkata, the school is being constructed on a 30-acre site to the most rigorous International standards. In the opening year, admissions will open for Grades 6 - 11.
The School will gradually grow to its full enrolment of 650 students across grades K-12. From the outset, full boarding facilities will be available so that the school can cater to all types of students - day, week and full boarding.
Oaktree International School is a candidate school for the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12) they are also seeking authorization to teach the IB Middle Years (MYP, Grades 6 - 10). The school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. Applications have also been made to the Cambridge International Examinations for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE, Grades 9 & 10) for approval as a centre to teach the IGCSE programme. The School will open the gates of its campus in September 2011 to its first co-educational intake of students.
